The Epitheal Story
At Epitheal, we’re driven by a passion for improving skin health. Our company, based in Spiddal, Co. Galway, combines cutting-edge science with a deep respect for the natural world to create innovative, sustainable skin care solutions.
Co-founder Michael McLoughlin, a pharmacist inspired by natural medicines, discovered superior skin recovery compounds through years of patient work — laying the scientific foundation for what would become Epitheal.
Working alongside Michael, entrepreneur and co-founder J.P. Prendergast has played a key role in advancing Epitheal’s research and development efforts. With a PhD focused on salicin and salicylic acid, JP brings extensive expertise to our team, particularly in the biopharma sector.
Newly-appointed Director Patrick McLoughlin brings nearly 30 years of pharma experience to the team. Together, they are committed to advancing wellness through the development of patent-pending Epitheal Cream, available over-the-counter.

JP is a salicylic acid specialist with a proven track record of building and selling companies, and extensive experience in second-generation bio-refining for the biotech, biomedical, and pharmaceutical industries.
Michael McLoughlin
Michael, a pharmacist with almost 50 years of experience, has developed groundbreaking, commercially successful topical treatments, built an independent pharmacy chain, and founded a number of innovative enterprises.
Pat McLoughlin
With nearly 30 years in pharma, Pat’s expertise spans manufacturing operations, regulatory affairs, finance, governance, and distribution. Previous roles include executive positions at BBraun Ireland, GSK Ireland, and Stiefel.
